Woo Hoo!

To use a quote from a movie,

"It appears the heavens have opened."

Our landlord should be here at 3:00 or 4:00 pm to start ripping up our living room and hallway carpet, and then proceed to lay down the lovely alternative of laminate flooring. We. are. so. very. excited.

(I think he'll be here after 5:00 since it's already 4:47 pm.)

Looking back it's been a long time coming, but hopefully everything will go smoothly and quickly.

We will work on the floor this weekend, and if needed next weekend, including July 4th. Between you, me, and my yellow kitchen gloves, I'd like to get it done before the 4th, since I'd much rather be grilling or watching fireworks, but we'll do what needs to be done.

"By the power of Greyskull!"

Here's what our living room currently looks like without any furniture.

You can see where we've put most of our stuff too.

The dining "nook".

Yes, there is a couch, a love seat, an entertainment center, a lamp, and our TV all scwunched in there. Yeah, I know "scwunched" isn't really a word... but I like it, so I'm using it. If you prefer, you can pretend I wrote scrunched or smushed. Does that make you feel better? No? Tough cookies.

[grin]

Then there's my office. Hello my little office in the distance!

Frankly, this makes me feel a little trapped.

An oversized chair, a small dining table, two desks, two chairs, a fish tank, and cabinets. [singsongy] Two of these things don't belong here, two of these things just aren't the same. *The large chair and dining table do not belong. Thanks to Sesame Street for teaching me about "same" and "different".

It's good that I'm not claustrophobic.

Who knows how I would get anything done if I was hyperventilating and trying to breathe into a paper bag.

Isn't that a cool dining table? The top folds over and gives you a place to put table linens, or hide birthday gifts so someone *coughJcough* won't find them.

Actually, J likes to look for hidden gifts. I usually wait as long as I can to get them, and then he won't be able to find them anywhere in the house. He's sneaky, sneaky.

The coup de grĂ¢ce! Our flooring.

Don't mind the mess, we had to put a few things in this room as well. When it's all said and done we can clean up the clutter. I feel like a tornado swept through here, but I know we will be grateful when it's finished. The end result will be worth it.

Here is a reminder of what the flooring looks like.

Can't wait to see pictures of your new floors! We're working on our basement but I have a feeling we'll take longer to get it done :) I liked your vacation pictures too. I'm still jealous :)
