Cold as ice

I feel like breaking out in song. Which one? I'm not quite sure.

At about 2:00 pm central time, there was a knock at the door. Can you guess who it was? I'll give you a hint. "Baby it's Cold Outside"... "Cold as Ice"... "Ice Ice Baby"... Nothing?

If you hadn't guessed, "P" and some workers from the air conditioning company came back (a day earlier than predicted), with a glorious new AC unit for us.

Picture the clouds parting, and rays of sunshine streaming down like... well, like this photo.

Anyway, back to the current things taking place. After talking with P, I saw one of the workers wheel a big cardboard box into the backyard on a dolly. I'll go check it out when they are done installing it.

I wouldn't have thought that I could get excited about an air conditioning unit. Does this mean I'm old? I'm sure it means something...

A little time has passed, and P just asked if he could turn on the AC to see how everything was going. It's already getting cool in here. The funny thing is that we don't even need the air on today. The outside temperature is only 70 degrees. Quite comfortable if you ask me. (Doesn't work when you need it. Gets fixed when you don't need it.)

P came back inside and took a reading with an infrared temperature gun at the different air vents in our house. The one in my office was at 45 degrees. The one in our second bathroom was at 50 degrees. Wow! My hands and nose are cold to the touch now. I won't complain. We are back to "normal", and that is good.

The saga of our poor old air conditioning unit has come to an end. Where will it find a home now? In a dump? Hopefully not. Recycled? This much I hope.

Thanks for sharing this strange, hot, silly journey with me.
Ice cream anyone?
