Big Bunco!

Tonight was Bunco night.


What is Bunco?

bun·co also bun·ko (bung' ko)
n. pl. bun·cos, also bun·kos
1. A swindle in which an unsuspecting person is cheated; a confidence game.
2. A parlor game played in teams with three dice.
3. A winning throw in the above game; three of a kind of a specified number.

One night a month, we take turns hosting Bunco. It's great when a group of friends can get together for good food, fun, and fellowship. Tonight, we found out that Marcia is expecting.

Previous months we found out that Jodi, Lea Ellen, and Katie are all expecting. That's just the ladies at Bunco! There are quite a few others at our church as well.

I better stay away from the water fountains!


The funny thing about Bunco is, that most everyone has played it, but they've all played with different rules, scoring, and how prizes are won.

Last month it was my turn. I made Beefy Mexican Lasagna, (using ground turkey instead), spinach salad with Mandarin oranges, dried cranberries and pecans with a raspberry vinaigrette, and brownies. Yum! Of course we couldn't forget the munchies. Plain and peanut M&M's, along with Skittles. Those are the must haves while we're playing.

This month it was at Jodi's house. She made lasagna, which is always good, along with a salad, garlic bread, brownies, and a layered Oreo/pudding/whipped cream "cake". So good! She also had Peanut M&M's and Skittles to snack on during the games.

We made it through 30 rounds, a record for our group! We all figure it was because people were getting Big Bunco's like crazy this time.

After we finished, we gathered around for prizes.

I didn't have the last Big Bunco, most Big Buncos, highest score, or lowest score. I did however have my score card drawn from the pool, and won a prize! That's always fun!

The "winners" all received cute planners with a gel pen, and pretty tissues.


The planner has an accordion "file folder" of sorts on the left, which could be used for coupons or little notes. The middle holds a pencil, and the right side has a note pad. It all folds up and closes with an attached elastic band.


The tissues are just the perfect size to fit in a purse, and the design on them is cute.


I wonder what next month's prizes will be.
