Be glad your last name isn't...

Hell
... and that you don't live there either.

Yes you heard me. There's a family from Australia with the last name of Hell. I don't envy them at all.

The teachers would probably call role in normal fashion, last name first.
Like Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Hell? Anyone? Anyone? Hell? Holly Hell?
Anyway, I'm glad I didn't have to live with that name.

This poor 5 year old, Max was denied entrance into a Catholic school because of his last name. After the school and parents talked, there was an offer made so that he could attend the school.

If you ask me, I wouldn't want to go to school after all of that. How many people including the principal, teachers, students, and even other parents would look down on that child and family because of all the fuss?

Talk amongst yourselves.

Yet another "hot" topic...

There is a town in Michigan named Hell. I have not ever been there, but it's about an hour or so from where my parents live. My friend's dad ran a 5K (or something like that) through Hell, Michigan. I think the shirt said something like, "I've been to hell and back".

From Roadside America - Do you like the "detour"?
You can really tell someone to, "Go to Hell... Michigan that is."

Check out how the town first gained the name of Hell. It's kind of interesting.

Photo from Hell, Michigan. Brr!

Did you ever think the phrase, "when hell freezes over" would ever come true? It does here.

They even have a tiny wedding chapel.

"One couple came all the way from California. They said it would be a cold day in hell before they got married, so appropriately enough, they chose a crisp Halloween day in Hell, Michigan, to tie the knot!"

Go here if you want to read more about Hell, Michigan's history.

Speaking of town names. Did you know there are 8 states with a town named, Climax? Heh. I don't want to know. Really.

Next time I'll see what I can find on one of these towns.
Nimrod, Minnesota
Tarzan, Texas
Crummies, Kentucky

You can suggest your own as well.
