Today is World AIDS Day. To learn more about it and what you can do, take a look at these sites:
World Vision
World Aids Campaign
World AIDS Day - Respect & Protect
World AIDS Day - AVERT
After having worked on a brochure and business cards for Mission Providence, I learned that Swaziland, Africa has the highest rate of HIV/AIDS in the world. That is about 40% (according to UNAIDS, Kaiser Family Foundation, and CIA). The result is a life expectancy of 32 instead of 60, and tons of orphans fending for themselves and their siblings.
It seems as though many children and teens of today are not as aware or afraid of HIV and AIDS as so many were in the 80's. Why? The danger hasn't lessened, and the number of of people with HIV or AIDS hasn't reduced either. This has got to change. People need to be made more aware of the dangers of HIV and AIDS, the steps they can take to protect themselves, and how to prevent it in the future.
What will you do?
