She's here!

I was pleasantly surprised that a delivery person arrived around 11:30 am this morning. I didn't have to wait all day, through work, or even into the evening.

[Woo hoo!]

J came home for lunch and we opened the large box. Kinda funny that a camera came in something so large. Actually the next image will make things clear.

It was packaged well, and filled with our order. The camera, lenses, tripod, mini tripod, filters, hard case, soft slingpack case, etc.

There's not a lot to say, other than we both love the camera! I still have some reading to do in the manual, and I'll also watch the DVD that came with everything.

I made an attempt at taking a self-portrait in a *cough*dirty*cough* closet mirror. It didn't turn out quite as nice as I had hoped (Read: blurry), but with some practice I'll get it down pat.

I'm actually pretty pleased with this picture of J – considering it was the first or second one I took with the new camera! He doesn't think it's a very good one though. I like it, and think he looks cute but I'm pretty biased. Did you ever wonder why I don't have many pictures of J on here? Yeah, he doesn't like most of them. Silly boy!

[wink]

I tried some with Kira too. She's a good subject, even if I had to "bribe" her. I must try to get her with the grass or something a bit darker behind her. Her whiskers almost call out to be photographed. "Look at us standing out against this darker background! Take a picture of us… please!"

I love the detail of her nose and whiskers. I'll have to try the 50mm lens and see how it does. I wonder if I could fill the LCD screen with just her snout. It's such a cute pink little nose and soft muzzle.

Intently looking out the sliding glass door.

Hey mom. What'cha doing?

I'll have to try more photographs later because it was really hard getting her to stay still. Let's just say more pieces of kibble were involved.

So that's part of one day with our new camera. I hope to improve over time, with practice and research to learn some nice tips. I'm wondering what we'll do when we go on vacation to Niagara Falls and Cooperstown. I'm mostly concerned about the water. Perhaps we could cover the camera body and majority of the lens with plastic. I wouldn't be too worried about some water droplets getting on the lens filter, since it's protective.

Have a wonderful day tomorrow! I'll be busy with work, a meeting and having the oil changed in my car. The good thing is that I will have time to read the camera manual while I'm waiting on the car.

Thanks Chris! We're both having fun so far.

We actually found a packaged deal for all the items we got, so it worked out really well.
