Sometimes nothing tastes better than good Greek yogurt, fruit and a touch of milk. This time though I wanted a green smoothie.
Have you ever heard of them? I have for a while now, but never got around to tasting one or even trying to make one. Today was that day!
This is what I had on hand to blend together:
- 1/2 cup of Greek yogurt
- 1/2 to 1 cup of milk (I didn't have juice)
- 1 & 1/2 frozen banana
- 1/4 cup of frozen strawberries (the last little bit in the freezer)
- 1/4 cup of frozen mango (I probably could have added more)
- 2 large handfuls of washed fresh spinach
I put the milk and yogurt in first, then I added frozen fruit with spinach on top, and pulsed to get it worked in. Then I blended until it was all smooth.
It was so good! I didn't even taste the spinach, and I probably wouldn't mind even if I did. Next time I may add a little more of the green stuff and try different recipes. Yum!
Here are some bloggers that I read and enjoy seeing their recipes (both smoothies and cooked foods).

So there you go. After finally trying a green smoothie I think I'll keep up with this delicious healthy habit! Thanks to Kath and Sara for your inspiration!

have you heard of the "perfect food" green drink? it's a powder of ground up green - you couldn't possibly sit down and eat as much green in one sitting as there is in just one tbs.
it is so good for you- i am thinking your concoction would be a great way to really "enjoy" some of that green stuff & get my kids drinking it!!! tks for the idea- kelli
Thanks Kelli, I have heard about the "perfect food" green drink but haven't tried it yet. Have you?
The smoothie I made would probably be a little sweeter (for kiddos) if you added some apple, honey or pineapple. Perhaps a bit more fruit in general would do it. Glad you like the idea.
I have also heard that you can slightly mask the green color by adding plenty of strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, etc. They'd turn it more of a purple color. :)
Yeah, rather you than me! Green! EEEwwwwww.
LOL... glad it tasted nice though.
Too funny Chris! Yeah I was glad it tasted good too. :)
Hey Chick... do you realise that there is no way to leave a comment on your most recent posts?
I have looked and looked, nothing there! ???
Is it intentional or have there been a stuff up somewhere?
Chris, I think something happened with the comment settings on the blog.
It should be fixed now.
Thanks so much for letting me know!
