I would like this from 5 Minutes For Mom.
Not just because of the brand *coughdysoncough* or color, but because I've heard such great things about them. Also because they will donate to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and it is asthma friendly. That would be great.
Even if you, or I don't win, there's always another option. Go to Target, purchase one, and Dyson will donate $40 towards the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. I can't really afford to spring for a $399.00 vacuum, so I won't worry my little head about it. Honestly, I don't think a new vacuum would make a difference.
My current vacuum has a HEPA filter and all that nifty stuff, but the horrid carpet in my house (read: rental) is beyond dirty. I think that if I cleaned the floor until I no longer saw any dirt or dust in the cannister, I would burn out the motor in my vacuum. The sad thing is, that supposedly the carpet was steam cleaned before we moved in. Somehow I don't think a steam cleaner will reach the dirt under the carpet and padding all the way down to the concrete slab.
I use to wonder why every surface in our home would be dusty the very day after I cleaned. I even questioned my cleaning ability, and asked people how often they normally dusted. The answers: Once a week, or by-weekly. Now I'm coming to realize it's our carpet and the air ducts.

Our landlord eventually wants to pull up the carpet and lay down tile, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. We haven't even gotten the new ceiling fan for the living room or a working toilet installed for our second bathroom. The toilet is at his house, and the fan has been taking up space in our garage for months. We would and could install it, but he has the extender piece, so it's a no go. How many years have we lived here? Almost three, or is it 3 1/2?
True, people say that owning a home isn't all it's cracked up to be. You have property taxes, various other fees, home owners association, etc. Don't get me started on the HOA. Been there done that. Our previous HOA made $5.00 per letter they sent out, no matter if it was legit or not. (By-the-way, those weren't weeds around the trees, it was the St. Augustine grass and the lovely runners it sends out.) In regards to money and buying a home, I know it can be a lot of stress.
At this point I want to move because of our health. I have asthma and we both have allergies. That's tough enough on a normal day in humidity and high grass pollen. Add dust on the coffee table, entertainment center, dressers, our bed, oh, and did I mention everywhere else? We've got a problem. This wasn't something we could see until after we moved in, so we're kind of stuck. I'm thankful it isn't like a house near us that no one is living in, and it won't sell because of black mold inside the walls. (Rant over.)
In other news, depending on an interview I had last week, we might be moving after November. This is not for sure, and I still need to hear from the company. I don't exactly know how to feel about it either. The job would be pretty good, but the distance is currently rough. Round trip for my interview, I drove almost 70 miles. It still surprises me to see that.
Some of you may be familiar with FOW, especially if you live in our neck of the woods. Others of you won't know what I'm talking about and probably don't see anything on TV about it. FOW is abig, really big community church. I don't know everything about them yet, but it would be a Christian work environment. Big plus there! I interviewed with them last Thursday for a graphic design position. Let me tell you, they ought to be their own printing/advertising agency with the amount of items they create and print. Signs, posters, CD/DVD cases, bulletins for every service and for two locations, and that's just some of the things they do.
I was able to find out that they have very similar principals and values to our current church home, so that wouldn't be an issue. Some differences are what many church locations struggle with. Are they more liberal or conservative? I would say liberal. Instruments or not? As far as I know, they use instruments. (I'm not accustomed to that, but in my opinion, I don't think it's wrong either.) It's more of a personal choice or "comfort" depending on how you look at it. One thing I did see is that they have two services on Saturday evening, three on Sunday, and one on the first Wednesday of the month with communion. They also do baptisms a bit differently. Regardless, J and I plan on staying at our current church, because it feels like home. That was my first concern when interviewing. I told J that I did not want to leave our church family. He said that we'd just need to get up earlier for the potential drive we might have if we moved.
I'm not exactly thrilled about where we'd need to move, (read: comfort level) but then again, I don't know much about the area we've looked at. It's a point midway from our current location and this possible job location. That way I wouldn't be stuck driving 70 miles every day. Until that point (November/December) I would need to drive that distance for a few months if I was offered/took the position. Sigh.
Right now, I'm praying for peace and for God to show us what we need to do. This past month has been full of stress, worry, anxiety, and fear. All unnecessary. The good from all of this? J and I both know God is teaching us something right now. We may not see the big picture, but we know that He is using this time in our lives to make us better people. I've seen us grow together more, and also learn how to cope with various big issues. Of course we have room for growth and improvement. I learned that I can't worry about things. Whether I like them or not, I'm not in control. Remember the two previous interviews I had and was concerned about? God made it very clear that they weren't right for me. He'll do the same with this one when the time comes.

Gosh, I just love ya'lls little house and I never even noticed any dust but I have only been there just a couple of times. My fingers are still crossed for you sweetie for that "perfect" job! :)
