Our Date

Saturday evening J and I decided that we'd have a date Sunday after church. Yes, we actually got up in time, although we attended second service instead of the 8:15 service.

What was this date, you ask?

[drum roll please]

We went to a matinee showing of WALL•E!

It has been a while since we have seen a "kids' movie" at the theater, but it was totally worth it! There were previews and advertisements for shows I had never heard of. It was fun listening to the kids laugh at one ad in particular. It was for The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. J and I both thought that it seemed almost too similar to Sponge Bob. Oh well, at least the kids seemed to like it.

One preview caught my attention, and I probably told J at least three times how amazing the artwork and style of the artists was. Seriously. Maybe even four times! The preview was for a new movie The Tale of Despereaux, which is based on the book Tale of Despereaux, by Kate DiCamillo. Just from watching the preview, I want to go get the book!

After the previews finished, there was a five minute short called, Presto. It had all the adults laughing harder than the kids. J and I were almost in tears a few times. There was an essence of the old cartoon classics with Presto. I think a handful of people at Pixar were inspired by Bugs Bunny, and I'd have to say Bugs would be honored.

On to WALL•Eeeee.

What can I say? Knowing the plot and some details from the various previews, I had a feeling I might possibly have some "emotional" attachment to the character WALL•E. There was even a part of me that thought I may cry... I didn't but I came very close. You know, tears building in the corner of your eyes. I won't tell you when or why I almost cried. You will need to see the movie to experience it yourself.

The graphics and animation were wonderful! Being a graphic designer, I can't help but notice the numerous details, while I sit in awe of the artistry unfolding before me. Just beautiful! The main point of the movie was presented well, and wasn't too preachy. The love story aspect wasn't overly mushy either. It was fantastic in all aspects.

This is one movie J and I will buy without hesitation when it comes out on DVD.

Go watch it this weekend!

I'm pretty sure you'll enjoy it.

I can't get Jason to a theatre to see a kids movie! Our church is doing a movie blockbuster series on Wed nights this summer and Wall-E is one of them and now I want to see it more :) Glad you had a good date!

Sounds like fun! Your uncle and I need to get into the dating habit, now that we have time together alone. I am sure, however, that if it made you almost cry, I'll be hopeless! I hate that!
